Versatile freelance journalist and writer with over 30 years experience of editing and writing for magazines and newspapers concerned with business, commerce, industry, and technology. Former Editor of Professional Engineering and former Deputy Editor of The Engineer.
Recent commissions have included news and features for Food Manufacture and Food Ingredients, Health & Nutrition; promotional material for OneShot, developer of advanced ice cream and milk-shake dispensing systems; news and features for Shopping Centre Magazine.
Other commissions have included contributions to a series of central London glossy news magazines Mayfair Times, Sloane Square, Belgravia; writing internal company history for a major UK aerospace industrial group; writing website to promote opto-electronics; and writing case histories on major chemical companies for regional development agency Yorkshire Forward.
I have also written the launch brochure for The New West End Company, the Business Improvement District in London's West End. And I have had a regular slot in The Guardian writing about innovation and small firms.
I have also scripted and presented a 20-minute Japanese TV programme about developments in machine tools. I was interviewed on BBC Breakfast TV at height of machine tools to Iraq inquiry; interviewed on London Radio about my article on connection between children with autism and fathers who are engineers; and interviewed on BBC World Service about the business of refurbishing old machinery.
I have also given a presentation to the Food Manufacturing Engineering Group (food companies, academics and machinery suppliers) about automation in the food industry.
